James S. Dahlquist graduated from William Mitchell College of law in 1987 and has practiced law in the state of Minnesota since he was admitted to the bar in that year.  Prior to law school he developed and managed human services programs in Hennepin County which provided treatment for chemical dependency and mental illness.  His specialties include both criminal and civil cases which include issues of mental illness and chemical dependence.  James S. Dahlquist is recognized as one of the top lawyers working with such disabled clients in Minnesota courts.  His practice in these areas is state wide.
